Cultivating the witness, holding the high watch….
At the end of the Wave we drift downhill into the slow motion dance of Stillness. This rhythm opens up a moving meditation of gesture, shape and breath that helps us integrate the fullness of our dance experience.
Stillness is the place where all the other rhythms of our journey converge. Gently settling into center, bringing our movement closer and closer to our core or the midline of the body, we slow down in order to notice, pay attention to and fully experience the texture and sensations of the landscape in which we have arrived at the end of our transformative dance journey.
The shadow side of Stillness expresses itself when we find ourselves becoming numb inside of our dances and our lives, which is another interesting place to explore.
Within the dance of Stillness we are building resources for experiencing peace and quiet, inner calm and contentment in our lives; cultivating our ability to slow down, stop and feel, reflect upon and bear witness to the nuances of our own experience in the midst of the busyness of life.
We can also discover reverence in the spirit of Stillness as we allow ourselves to gently slip into the God-stream, rest into Grace as we absorb the dynamic healing power of our individual and collective dances.
As I grow older, I find the rhythm of Stillness more and more intriguing and deeply nourishing.
